Fractals, Graphs, and Fields

چکیده
an Iterated Function System (IFS), which leads to a solution that involves finding an Eulerian cycle in a certain graph and then to finding generators for the multiplicative group of a finite field. We start with an introduction to IFS fractals and the problem of generating an image of the attractor of an IFS. For a more complete introduction to the theory of Iterated Function Systems, we refer to reference [1].

Heat kernels on manifolds, graphs and fractals
We consider heat kernels on different spaces such as Riemannian manifolds, graphs, and abstract metric measure spaces including fractals. The talk is an overview of the relationships between the heat kernel upper and lower bounds and the geometric properties of the underlying space. As an application some estimate of higher eigenvalues of the Dirichlet problem is considered.

The Directors of the three institutes, CRM, Fields and PIMS are pleased to announce that Martin Barlow from UBC is the recipient of the 2009 CRM–Fields – PIMS Prize. Martin Barlow is a leading figure in probability and the leading international expert in diffusion on fractals and other disorderedmedia. In addition, the impact of his work has been important in such diverse fields as partial diff...
متن کاملElectromagnetic Fields on Fractals
Fractals are measurable metric sets with non-integer Hausdorff dimensions. If electric and magnetic fields are defined on fractal and do not exist outside of fractal in Euclidean space, then we can use the fractional generalization of the integral Maxwell equations. The fractional integrals are considered as approximations of integrals on fractals. We prove that fractal can be described as a sp...
متن کاملFunction spaces and Hausdorff dimension on fractals
We start by surveying a possible approach for function spaces of Besov type on special closed subsets of Rn. Afterwards we recall that, in the case of Sobolev spaces and Besov spaces on Rn, the Hausdorff dimension for the graphs of continuous functions belonging to such spaces has been studied by several authors, and that in the case of Besov spaces the final answer concerning the maximal possi...
متن کاملAnomalous random walks and di↵usions: From fractals to random media
We present results concerning the behavior of random walks and di↵usions on disordered media. Examples treated include fractals and various models of random graphs, such as percolation clusters, trees generated by branching processes, Erdős-Rényi random graphs and uniform spanning trees. As a consequence of the inhomogeneity of the underlying spaces, we observe anomalous behavior of the corresp...
